What Is Life All About?

As you hike, pedal, swim, climb or travel in any way, what do you ponder on your journey? What tugs at your spirit?   If you pedal down some unknown highway on your bicycle adventure, what is life about?  What is it about on a bicycle?  Do you ponder your life?  Do you ponder life in particular?  What sets you apart from the humdrum of life?  What fascinates you about life on a bicycle tour and life on the road?

My take on what is life about on a bicycle:  It is the little figures of birds, squirrels and chipmunks running across the land until their shadows vanish with the setting of the sun.  It’s about the great horned owl hooting in the distance as your campfire’s embers crackle, pulse and glow—hypnotizing your soul.

Life encompasses a dragonfly sweeping across a pond on its unending journey across the summer.  Life equates to a turtle sunning itself on a log at the water’s edge of a glass-still pond.  Life features a golden eagle soaring on invisible updrafts across the limitless azure skies.

Life thrives in the heartbeat in a newborn lamb, turkey, fawn and chick. Life arrives in the first5 wing-flaps of a gosling taking to the skies.  Life shows itself in the raindrops flying toward earth to make the flowers grow.  It’s an osprey cruising along the water in search of his dinner.

It’s a butterfly landing on a columbine to pollinate it toward a new generation.  It’s a firefly at dusk playing in the tall grasses to chase away the darkness as if those grasses were street lamps. It’s the haunting call of a Loon searching for her mate.

Life sustains itself in the formless energy a sunrise, pulsing embers of a campfire, or the ceaseless movement of the wind, or the eternal thrust of waves on an ocean beach.

Life is every creature facing the tasks of living in its own time and in its own way. Life is the emerging creative energy of the universe dancing into being and manifestation.

What’s your take as you pedal around the world on your bicycle?
