Remaining Faithful Through Persecution in 2019

Many people suffer from depression this time of year, and I believe it has a lot to do with memories of Christmases past, and maybe a little trepidation regarding what’s to come as our calendars turn over, yet again.

As Christians, we see the chaos in the world and continue looking up for the blessed hope of our Savior’s return.  But still, He tarries, not willing that any should perish.  The Great Harvest is coming, but God’s people have been asleep at their post.  Instead of occupying until He returns, standing our ground and being the salt of the world,  it seems the vast majority are only concerned about their own salvation, and instead of praying, sowing and reaping souls for the Kingdom, all we do is just “look up,”  waiting for Jesus to come for US.

I’ve been a bit sad myself.  You see, it’s now been 12 years since we were able to spend Christmas with my parents.  Both passed away in 2007.  One night in March of that year, my Dad was rushed to the emergency room with blood pressure problems.  He didn’t know then that he would never return home again.  Within four months, he was gone from this world.   Four months after that, my Mom followed.  I miss them, especially at Christmas time.  How they loved our kids — their grandchildren.  I wish they could see how they’ve grown, all they have accomplished.  They would be proud of them.  And how they would have dearly loved OUR grandchildren — their GREAT grandchildren, so sweet and precious.  But they left this world before our kids came of age; they never got to see them finish school, get married or have children.

That is sad for me, but even sadder is the fact that I’m actually GLAD they’re not here to see what has become of our nation and our world.  The Lord, mercifully, took them home just in time, before the great OBAMAnation took hold — which brought such desolation, confusion, division, and deception to our land.  It’s only been 12 Christmases, but so much has happened since then.  It’s not the same world.

As the new year dawns, we wonder what it will bring.  Yes, because we are God’s children, we can rejoice in the hope that we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  But we also dread the coming persecution that Scripture clearly tells us IS only going to get worse before that great and terrible day of the LORD.  By the way, if you find that in YOUR Christian walk, you are NOT currently enduring some sort of persecution, however large or small it may be, I would examine your heart and ask yourself whether or not you truly ARE a “good and faithful servant,” occupying, standing your ground for HIS Word and Truth, and fighting the enemy daily.

Let’s take a look at the sequence of events Jesus describes in Matthew 24, as He explains the signs to look for regarding His coming on the Last Day.  We have the “early warning signs,” like false “messiahs,” wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes in diverse places.  But in verse 8, Jesus reminds us that this is just the beginning of sorrows.

Starting at Verse 9:  “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name’s sake.  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

And then in Verse 14 we have our marching orders:  “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”  So ARE we actively engaged in preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom?  Or are we simply concerned with our OWN selves, our OWN salvation?  Do we just go to church every week and practice a FORM of Godliness, one that’s politically-correct, non-offensive, dancing around the truth, … powerless, vain religion?

Such a shame.  As believers, WE hold all the ANSWERS the world is in desperate need of, but we keep them locked up in a Book we’ll never read, much less share with anyone else… sometimes not even those we love the most.  We lock them behind the four walls of a stained-glass “fortress” and if a confused, deceived lost person SHOULD happen to stumble into our midst, we simply “accept and affirm” them — “loving” them into a false sense of security, as we sing “Jesus loves me this I know.”  We tell them Jesus loves them just the way they are, they need not make any changes.  No need of repentance or turning from sin.  Jesus loves them just the way they are.  In other words, …we LIE to them.

I KNOW this is true, because I hear it every time I’m out on the street witnessing to profoundly lost people.  Even at a “pride” parade, sodomites proudly proclaim, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”  No.  The Bible doesn’t tell them so… the apostate “churches” tell them that.  And more and more so-called “Christian churches” are now singing that song — AND marching as allies in the “pride” parades — pied pipers leading the masses down the broad road that leads to destruction.  All in an attempt to remain popular and well-liked by the world.

Second Thessalonians reminds us that that Great and Terrible Day of the LORD will not come until AFTER there is a great falling away… a great falling away from God’s Word and truth.  A great apostasy.  It’s happening NOW.  If you’re involved in an apostate “church” — or even just an assembly where it’s forbidden to warn the wicked, to shine the light of God’s truth on the darkness and deception of the enemy, I urge you to “come out of her!”  Be about your Father’s business.  OCCUPY until your Savior Jesus Christ returns.  Even if you must stand alone.  Because many DO stand alone.  But a remnant is gathering.  A remnant of believers, still standing, and as we read in Matthew 24, he that shall endure until the end, the same shall be saved.”

I don’t know what the year 2019 will hold.  But I can tell you things are not going to get better.  TRUE Christ-followers are going to be persecuted like never before.  And sadly, not just by the ungodly.  But ESPECIALLY by those who have that “form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.”  Yes, sadly, many CHURCH people, you will find, will be your worst enemies, as they align themselves with the ear-tickling false doctrines of demons, and you draw closer to Christ, seeking to obey all He commanded.

No I don’t claim to be a prophet, but I can read the warning signs.  Recently, the leaders of France and Germany have urged European Union states to open up borders, allowing for more mass migration.  We see how well that has worked in the past for Europe.  We now have “no-go zones” in many cities where non-muslims dare not set foot for fear of being raped, beaten or murdered.  We’re seeing the same even in the heartland of America, in places like Michigan and Minnesota.

Now the “Progressives,” the “Leftists,” — or I may as well just SAY it:  the Socialists — here in America, are crying for a New World Order — a world without borders.  Despite our best efforts, thousands of illegals pour over our southern — and northern borders every day.  This is not only unsustainable, economically.  It’s an invasion.  YES, we SHOULD help those who are truly in fear for their lives as they flee socialism and Sharia  in their homelands.   But in most instances, that is not the case… what IS happening is the invaders are here to force US — the US — into that New World Order, becoming a One World Socialist and Sharia state.  And the public-school brainwashed Leftists here LOVE the idea.

It sort of seems like the “undoing” of God’s plan that He set in motion at the Tower of Babel — when God scattered the people from there and gave them all different languages and over time, different cultures with different values and morals.  But now, in these last days, the enemy wants to REBUILD that Tower of Babel, uniting all nations and cultures under a One-World government.  This is very dangerous, but it’s happening before our eyes.

In England, Prime Minister Theresa May recently declared that pedophiles should be allowed to adopt children.  Those who have come out of the sodomite lifestyle will tell you that pedophilia is the “end-goal” of the LGBT agenda… in fact, many have already added the letter “P” to their LGBT alphabet, because they aren’t even hiding their intentions anymore.  They’re coming for our kids.  Just look at the 11-year-old “drag queen” in New York known as “Desmond is Amazing,” currently being “pimped out” by his so-called “parents” as he dances, gyrates and performs in homosexual night clubs and “gay bars.”  And America cheers him on, encouraged by high-profile celebrities, and appearing on popular TV talk shows.  This sort of child abuse will only increase, until pedophilia is accepted, embraced and celebrated.  And anyone who dares to suggest it is WRONG will immediately be labeled a “homophobe” and a “hateful bigot.”  There’s your persecution, fellow Christian….  but MY question is, will that stop you from speaking the truth?  Because it IS stopping a LOT of professing Christians, as their pastors teach them to purposely twist the Scriptures while quoting “Judge not,” — the world’s favorite new Bible verse.

We also have ANTIFA; we have one of the two major political parties openly calling for physical attacks on members and supporters of the other party.  We have seen our history re-written and our historical monuments torn down.  We have men “marrying” men and women “marrying” women.  We have a push for “three-way marriages,” we have women marching against sexism as they blatantly and disgustingly sexualize THEMSELVES.   “Drag Queen Story Time” in public libraries and public schools — with parents eagerly and excitedly taking their children there to embrace the “diversity.”  We have Oprah Winfrey promoting the “Shout Your Abortion” movement — where women who have had abortions are encouraged to be proud of that.

Then there’s the thing people seem to care and worry about the most:  the economy.  Experts have predicted a major “reset” in the world economic system coming in 2019.  A world-wide collapse, making way for a new One-World “monetary” system.

As New Years Eve rolls around, many will gather in Times Square and other major cities around the world to celebrate.  The debaucherous festivities will be broadcast worldwide.  It’s been more years than I can recall since I last tuned in to a New Years Eve broadcast, and even then, it was only to shake my head in unbelief at the depravity.  I cannot even IMAGINE what these celebrations are like now.  I don’t know any of the performers or prostitutes that are featured.  I have no interest in watching them shake their puny fists in the face of my God.  But shake them, they will, in a drunken, stoned, hyper-sexualized abomination — reminiscent of the Israelites dancing around the golden calf.  There’s nothing new under the sun.

And they will drink, and they will sing, and they will glorify sodomy, and One World “unity,” and the rise of the feminine and the destruction of the masculine — and they will HATE God, and His people.  And their goal is to celebrate and “party” like they never have before.  But I’m sorry.  I’m in no mood to celebrate.  I am grieved.  I’m grieved at all the lost souls.  I’m grieved at the “inheritance” we are leaving to our children and grandchildren because of our disobedience.   I’m grieved at the apostasy of the churches, for we know, “as go the pulpits so goes the nation.”  As our shepherds refused to disciple their people, we descended into destruction.  Our nation and our world is confused, deceived, lost, and perishing.  And few there be that care enough to wash the scales from their eyes, wake from their stupor and claim the POWER that Christ gave His followers — the power to be soldiers of the cross, life-changers, soul-winners, Gospel-of-the-Kingdom preachers and teachers — and servant-hearted ministers.

In Acts, Chapter 2, Peter quotes from the prophet Joel regarding a great revival in the last days.  Here, God promises to pour out His Spirit on all flesh before that great and terrible day of the LORD… and all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  This tells me there is still some ray of hope for those who are lost.  But in all I’ve learned about the “last days,” I see two distinct groups of people who will be saved from the wrath of Christ upon His return:  those who endure persecution until the end; and those who call upon the name of the Lord.  You see, WE must minister and witness and testify of Christ — starting in our own home towns.  WE have to do that, (not the “professional Christians”), and in doing so, the Bible promises we WILL be persecuted, hated, and put to death.  But those of us who endure ‘til the end will be saved.  And what about those who do the persecuting?  All who HEAR our witness and then call upon the name of the Lord will ALSO be saved!  But how will they hear unless we preach the Word?  Unless we share our testimony.  Do you have the Christ-like courage to preach the truth of God’s Word even to your enemies, even in the midst of persecution?  Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame (the enemy) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and loving not their own lives, even unto death.”  Are we prepared for that?  Because 2019 just MAY be the year that GOD asks YOU that question, directly.
