By Chip McLean:
Word comes that President-elect Trump has tapped Nikki Haley to be his administration’s ambassador to the United Nations:
Haley, the first woman governor of South Carolina, is a rising political star in the Republican establishment and was a Trump critic during the presidential campaign. She met with Trump last week, despite their differences expressed during the presidential campaign.
The governor prominently criticized Trump during her response to Obama’s State of the Union address in January.
“During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices,” Haley said. “We must resist that temptation.”
Campaigning for Sen. Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign in March, she joined the chorus of Republicans who demanded that Trump release his tax returns.
Trump responded on Twitter: “The people of South Carolina are embarrassed by Nikki Haley!” he wrote.
As a resident of the great state of South Carolina, I can affirm that we are indeed embarrassed by Nikki Haley.
Haley was touted by the establishment as a staunch “conservative”. Her actions as governor on the other hand, prove otherwise.
Haley has been nothing but an ambitious, establishment shill – one who does not understand the people of South Carolina and one who will bow to any politically correct message that repudiates the people of this state.
The lieutenant-governor – Henry McMaster – has solid credentials and should make a fine governor (not to mention he was an early Trump supporter).
Trump has made no secret of the fact that he considers the United Nations to be an ineffectual, worthless – and anti-American organization. Trump’s America first philosophy represents a complete 180 from the globalist Obama.
Nikki Haley may be getting another job listing for her resume, but under a Trump Administration it will be as irrelevant as a buggy whip salesman. Actually, her “job” will be more like the equivalent of WWII German soldiers being sent to the Russian front.
