Such cowardly behavior by these “Bandwagon” Republicans gives wholly unwarranted “credence” to the broad brush with which leftists paint the good, pro-Second Amendment people of America as the root cause of mass murder.
We’ve seen the pattern too many times! A calamity ensues, and in its immediate aftermath, leftists engage in shameless grandstanding, for the sole purpose of setting the moral parameters of the situation in terms that solely benefit their agenda. With conservative push-back being timid and uncertain, this is an easy ruse to accomplish. And that’s precisely what has been occurring ever since the El Paso massacre.
In the wake of every virulent and despicable leftist attack on the rights of Americans, we can expect the “Bandwagon” wing of the GOP to react by attempting to get on board with the leftists. In the process, such cowardly behavior by these Republicans gives wholly unwarranted “credence” to the broad brush with which leftists paint the good, pro-Second Amendment people of America as the root cause of mass murder.
Currently, Senators Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina are pushing legislation that is ostensibly aimed at preempting the acquisition of guns by individuals whom the government deems to be unfit to own them. Give that a moment’s thought! The same government entities that deemed the Obama Administration to be “scandal free,” while insisting that President Trump was involved in criminal collusion with Russia, the same people who call the monsters of antifa a “protest group” but decry conservatives and the Tea Party as “domestic terrorists,” now wants to determine who can and cannot lawfully own a gun. It is no overstatement to warn that if this legislation goes into effect, the Second Amendment will be effectively nullified.
Worst of all, none of this latest onslaught against gun ownership has been motivated by any sincere effort to get the guns out of the hands of real criminals. Remember, it is leftist Democrats who want those people to be added to the voting rolls. Rather it is a panicked response to the recent shootings in El Paso and Dayton, and a vain effort to “look good” in the eyes of the left. Why can’t Republicans ever figure out that such behavior will never gain them accolades for being on the right side of any issue, but will instead only reveal them to be ideologically ungrounded and weak?
