By Pastor David Whitney:
The progressives are violently upset that their champion didn’t win and not shy about sowing violence in our land…
Perhaps 2017 will go down as the year when the phrase ‘Fake News’ became part of the American vocabulary. We have all been exposed to a great deal of this toxic substance – Fake News. Just last week, one of the chief purveyors of Fake News shamelessly admitted on air the reason why he does so:
“Brian Williams, the man who was suspended from MSNBC for making up fake news reports, stated on a Wednesday night broadcast that he considers it his job to fear-monger on topics such as North Korea. After the networks spent all day suggesting that Trump’s rhetoric is more dangerous than North Korean threats he stated:
‘Our job tonight actually is to scare people to death on this subject so the talk isn’t as free as it is about a preemptive or a surgical military strike.’ Williams bizarrely claimed during a discussion about North Korea’s saber rattling and President Trump’s response.” –InfoWars
A term that is not popular, but should be, is ‘Fake Science.’ We have seen Face Science exposed in the global warming scam from scientists’ emails at East Anglia University in England. They admit that they changed all the numbers regarding the earth’s temperature to reach their stated aim, which was to convince the world of a catastrophic crisis caused by man’s activities. It was all a fraud, and it was so thoroughly exposed that they had to change their mantra from global warming to climate change. That is only one of a multitude of examples that can be cited of ‘Fake Science.’
But there is an even more important term I’d like to see introduced into our vocabulary, ‘Fake Justice.’ Just like Fake News and Fake Science, Fake Justice presents itself as being true justice when it is far from it; in fact, it is quite often the exact opposite of true justice.
There has been a long campaign to eradicate the standard of God’s Word as the standard of justice. It has been claimed that the Bible is inadequate, the standards it espouses are antiquated, the restrictions it puts forward are not good for people. So, many have bought the lies that we are seeing, the confusion and conflict over the issue of what constitutes justice.
For quite some time now, the leftists, Marxists, or what they like to call themselves, “progressives,” have claimed the high moral ground. (By the way, progress towards what?) They claim they have the corner on the market when it comes to defining justice. Justice for them means abolishing private property, destroying God’s Holy institution of marriage, eradicating God’s design for the family, and finally establishing an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-controlling civil government with totalitarian, dictatorial control over the lives of all citizens who suffer under their iron heel. Hillary was their champion; which is why they are so enraged after November’s election.
But there has also been backlash against their totalitarian vision. Back in 2009, a blogger invented the phrase “Social Justice Warrior.” It quickly caught on as a provocative term for an individual promoting socially progressive views including feminism, civil rights, multiculturalism, and identity politics. The accusation of being a Social Justice Warrior now carries implications of pursuing personal validation rather than any deep-seated conviction, and being engaged in disingenuous social justice arguments or activism to raise personal reputation, also known as virtue signaling. So, the term changed from a primarily positive term to an overwhelmingly negative one.
This development captures the larger issue that we are in a society today where there is a great divide between large segments of the populous. There is no longer a cohesive agreement about what constitutes justice. What is apparent is that many people have bought into the big lie about justice. The lie is, simply put, that man determines what is and is not just. So the rift in our land reflects that belief, for if man determines justice, what if men don’t agree? What if there is no consensus? What then? Do we take a vote and the majority determines what is just? If that were the measure, then the Nuremberg trials – where the war crimes of the Nazi’s were judged as violative of justice – were wrong. How could anyone claim what the majority of Germans voted for was unjust? The majority elected Hitler, so wasn’t he carrying out the will of the majority? Too bad for you if you were of the minority in Germany and didn’t escape before they sent you to a death camp.
This is what happens when the lie that justice is man-made is believed. It is what our Founders warned about. What happens when a vote is taken between three wolves and one lamb, about who will be on the menu for lunch? The minority gets skewered and roasted over the fire. That is not justice. The only fair standard of justice must be above and beyond the manipulations of any mere human being, and furthermore, it must be a standard that is in compliance with the laws of the universe and must be given to mankind in a form that he can understand and apply.
The progressives are violently upset that their champion didn’t win and not shy about sowing violence in our land. I pray that our President and those in his administration would return to the standard our founders followed, God’s Word which is the only absolute, transcendent, true standard of justice that exists in the universe.
Part of the problem in our land has been that Christians and Churches have abandoned the public discussion and public teaching of what truly constitutes justice. What has happened in America during the last century could be described as the privatization of the Christian faith – meaning, “I have my faith in God, and my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ which is very important to me privately but has no bearing on the rest of life. It is not reflected in what I do in society, on what I will fight for in the public arena, or what I will oppose in the civil body politic, or fight for in the major institutions of society”.
As nature abhors a vacuum, so it is in society. As Christians exited the market place of ideas, choosing their privatized Christianity, that vacuum was quickly filled with Social Justice Warriors and other contenders for the public’s attention. The result is what we see today in a sharply divided America. Is this what God wants of His people here in America? As Paul closes his epistle to Titus, he has this final exhortation before the closing salutations.
Titus 3:14 “And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.”
So this is Paul’s command for Titus to instruct the brothers and sisters in Christ there on the isle of Crete – to learn to maintain good works.
