Part 3: What our children face, water shortages, arable land shortages, food shortages, quality of life consequences…

As you may note in this series, the figures shown give you an exact idea of the future for your children.  Not “if”, but “when.”  Either you and the rest of American citizens take action, or that non-action guarantees a sobering reality for future generations.  Once that next 100 million immigrants land on America’s shores, they become our problem.

What do we face in America with another 139 million people by 2050 as to species extinction rates?  Have you heard the term “ecological footprint?”  It’s never discussed by leaders or the media.  They avoid any mention of the dark underbelly of human overpopulation in America. It’s always “Out there in the developing world.”

For example:  a person in Ethiopia, Africa utilizes .4 acres of land or 4/10ths of an acre to build a dwelling, grow food and live.  When such a person emigrates to America, his or her ecological footprint explodes to 25.4 acres.  (Source:www.AllSpecies.org , “Ecological Footprint”) When you multiply 25.4 acres X’s 100,000,000 added people to the USA, that equates to 2.54 billion acres of wilderness that must be destroyed for housing, malls, roads, schools and more.  Where do the animals go?  They go extinct!

In my bicycle travels, I’ve seen human misery on a scale most Americans cannot comprehend. While traveling through China, I saw 50 lanes of gridlocked highways. (You read correctly: 50 lanes!) I witnessed air pollution thicker than the boiler room on the Titanic.  I witnessed people and housing thicker than hair on a dog.  I saw wilderness desecration beyond repair.  I floated on the Yangtze River which resembled an open sewer creating a 20,000-square mile dead zone at its mouth.   This video depicts fifty lanes of traffic gridlocked in China:

When it comes to quality of life or standard of living, countries like China at 1.4 billion and India at 1.25 billion, cannot correct their population calamities.  While it may be too late, China instituted one-child per woman across the country. It may be harsh, but Mother Nature proves merciless and much more brutal with her methods.

One look at India’s population overshoot shows a full 60 percent of Indians do not enjoy access to a toilet. (Source: Indian Express) They add 14 million people, net gain, annually! Having swallowed the beast, India now suffers major indigestion.

Since American women averaged 2.03 children since 1970, our country would have leveled out at 255 million in 1990.  Instead we screamed past 300 million by 2006.  Question: what drives our population to such horrific numbers?  Answer: the 1965 Immigration Reform Act passed by Congress forced constant immigration of 1.1 to 1.6 million annually, along with 900,000 births annually by immigrants, and fueled endless chain-migration. That equates to 2.0 million and more annually, plus our own population momentum of 1.0 million annually. (Source: Dr. Steven Camarota, www.cis.org)

In his brilliant book, Unguarded Gates, Dr. Otis Graham said, “Most Western elites continue urging the wealthy West not to stem the migrant tide [that adds 80 million new babies net gain annually to the planet], but to absorb our global brothers and sisters until their horrid ordeal has been endured and shared by all—ten billion humans packed onto an ecologically devastated planet.”

In the end, what about Mother Nature and all the animals?  How can a cognitive species such as humans with so much power over this planet eradicate countless other species without a touch of moral culpability?

America’s first ecologist in the 1800s, John Muir said, “How many hearts with warm red blood in them are beating under the cover of the woods, and how many teeth and eyes are shining!  A multitude of animal people, intimately related to us, but of whose lives we know almost nothing, are as busy about their own affairs as we are about ours.”

Instead of continuing on this ‘exponential growth’ path, the same modus operandi of a cancer cell, a national discussion on the future of our country grows more critical by the hour.  Do we want a successful future for our children or one like India’s, China’s and Mexico’s?

Such a national discussion must generate an international debate on where the entire human race stumbles into the 21st century.

If you were a child today, would you want your parents to avoid this discussion?  Would you want them to let you become a victim of this immigration-overpopulation juggernaut?   Would you like to be swimming inside a human caldron of 439 million people surging toward 625 million in the span of a lifetime of a child born today?

We live in a Constitutional Republic.  Nothing happens unless we, the citizens, speak up, write up and stand up.  Let’s force a national discussion on every radio, TV and cable channel.  Let’s write every newspaper and magazine that discusses our national interests. Let’s speak to the producers of “60 Minutes”, NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CNN and PBS.  Let’s speak on “Meet the Press” and “Face the Nation.”

My friend and distinguished professor of physics at the University of Colorado, the late Dr. Albert Bartlett, (www.albartlett.org), dedicated his life to educating millions about the dangers of human overpopulation.  He said, “Unlimited population growth cannot be sustained; you cannot sustain growth in the rates of consumption of resources. No species can overrun the carrying capacity of a finite land mass. This Law cannot be repealed and is not negotiable.”

Coming in Part 4: What can you do? What will you do about the future of our civilization? About your children?
